"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Where And When?
We gather on Thursday mornings Labor Day through Memorial Day in Cumming at the The Hall & Hound Brewing Co. on the corner of Freedom Parkway and Piglrim's Mill Rd - off of exit 16 on GA 400.
This week we are leaning into Paul’s striking invitation: “In your relationships with one another,
have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2 shows us that the mind of Christ is not first
about knowing more information, but about a way of thinking that expresses itself
in humility, obedience, and self-giving love.
Paul locates the mind of Christ in a very practical place: how we treat one another. “Do nothing out of
selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves…not looking to your own
interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” This is the opposite of the default mindset of our
culture, which tells us to protect our rights, promote our image, and prioritize our comfort. In Christ, we
are called to a downward path—choosing to stoop, to serve, to listen, and to lift others up—because that is
exactly what Jesus did for us.
Philippians 2 unwraps the inner posture of Jesus: “being in very nature God, [He] did not consider equality
with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing…taking the very nature
of a servant…he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” The eternal Son
willingly laid aside the visible glory and privileges of deity, not ceasing to be God, but choosing the
form of a servant for our salvation. His mindset was not, “How can I hold on to what is mine?” but, “How
far can I go in love to rescue them?”
Because of this radical humility and obedience, “God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue acknowledge that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” The pattern is clear: the path of Christ’s mind is
downward in service, then upward in God’s timing and God’s way. Paul is not just giving us theology; he is
giving us a pattern for our lives—let go of grasping, humble yourself, trust the Father to lift you up.
I look forward to sharing this powerful message with you. It all begins at 7:00 a.m. and wraps up by 8:00 at our gathering spot –
Hall & Hound Brewing Co., 1920 Freedom Pkwy., Cumming, GA. 30041.
Doors open at 6:30, coffee and light refreshments are available.
We hope to see you there!
